It was intensive time at work, so I hadn't enough time even to visit the site.
Therefore I was very suprised to see in a site statistics that there were almost 1500 people who visited the site during the last two days.
Thanks to StumbleUpon for this "burst" of activity :-)

I hope that I'll have enough free time and money to advertize TheInternetLife more actively in the next month.

I spent a week studying how the ip to geolocation conversion works. Then it took some time to build the geographic database of key points representing country borders. But now you can enjoy TheInternetLife covering the world map.

But.. note that TheInternetLife can only detect a country, not a city... So, don't be suprised finding your cell in New York while living in San Francisco :-)

It's scary to finish. I'm trying to postpone the finale, adjusting last details, cleaning and polishing something already finished.

It's scary to finish because the Finale is just the Beginning. Beginning of a new voyage, which is, perhaps, longer than the one before the Finale. Before there was just a cell. Just a single cell that turned into a multicellular embryo. After it will become a living organism whose life is not under my control.

It's scary to start and let the new life go to the deep waters. It's frightening because you don't know what can happen to it, since no one is able to predict the future. And all we can is just to hope and wait. Just hope and wait. And believe. This is Life.

Escher said, "Only those who attempt the absurd... will achieve the impossible". I attempt the absurd. Will it lead to something impossible? Nobody knows. But I like challenges. And maybe a real twist of fate will give me a chance to create a sort of artificial life (the robotic explorer) using another artificial one.

So, if you get interested in this idea, tell your friends about this site. And if you are a website owner and want to contribute to the project, subscribe your site to the "Life of Your Site" service and show your visitors the life of your own site.

Several important steps are made by the day:
  1. a skeleton of the site is ready and its content is being filled bit by bit.
  2. the site got its own domain.
  3. A new 2checkout.com account is opened specially for this project.

Not bad, IMHO. There is a need to finish the registration scripts and test the whole thing.

It was a hard week searching for the appropriate algorithm and building a "workhorse" application for gathering visitors statistics...

As it turned out three years were enough for me to forget everything about writing c/c++ application on the linux platform. It took some time to recall but now I have working "core" of the project.

It's time to start building the website.

Exciting! I spent an hour sitting and looking after all evolutions of the life.

Should play with algorithm though...

It seems to me that I finally found some simple and attractive idea.

I'll try to test the concept using the visitors of my own site tomorrow.
